PERSOALAN PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DI SEKOLAH

Based the result of research that author done in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002 show that most of teacher in school still employing traditional teaching. They employ expository teaching, which have fix cycle, that is:
- Explain
- Give example
- Give exercise and evaluation.
All processes was done classically. But, when mathematics teacher use this method, there are some weakness, such that :
- Teacher can’t facilitate what students’ need.
- Teacher can’t give motivation for students who have low competence
- Students are not active learner
- Teacher use little number of teaching aids
- Teacher can learn to collaborate each other
Trough the result of research, the author get opportunity to develop learning method. This learning method is suitable with Cockroft Report who explain that in every teaching process teacher can choose certain method, which is suitable in certain material.
To develop teaching process, teacher need to plan the good condition to learn mathematics, plan the mathematics activity, develop the role of teaching mathematics, and manage when and whom the mathematics teaching emplemented.
While for government, they must give opportunity fol all scholl to develop the teaching program by self, evaluate the national curriculum, and evaluate the evaluation system in Indonesia.
