PEMANFAATAN VIDEO TAPE RECORDER (VTR) UNTUK PEGEMBANGAN 
MATEMATIKA REALISTIK DI SMP

Mathematics realistic have concentration in process construc the concret thing for primary student to relate the mathematics concept. The things in daily life can be used in mathematical process. There are two mathematical procces, that are horizontal mathematization and vertical mathematization.  

In horizontal mathematization, the students come up with mathematical tools which can help to organize and solvea problem located in a real-life situation. The following activities are examples of horizontal mathematization: identifying or describing the specific mathematics in a general context, schematizing, formulating and visualizing a problem in different ways, discovering relations, transferring a real world problem to a mathematical problem, and transferring a real world problem to a known mathematical problem. On the other hand, vertical mathematization is the process of reorganization within the mathematical system itself.  

Mathematics learning in which had recorded into Video Tape Recorder (VRT) is one way in the effort to make suitable method. Employ Video Tape Recorder (VRT), teacher can learn about how to make preparation before learning, develop source of learning, to develop variation of teaching method, and to do mathematics learning process in junior high school.  

Realistic approach have characteristic where is the students built their own model and that model is to help student to develop formal mathematics. There are 2 model that may happen in that process. First is model of situation and the second is model for formal mathematics. In realistic model student doing informal thinking as a respon to real problem and then they change into formal mathematics.

Isoda M, said that VTR (Video Tape Recorder) for teacher education and reform movement in Mathematics Education, specifically for developing lesson study has some benefits as: short summary of the lesson with emphasis on major problems in the lesson, components of the lesson and main events in the class, and, possible issues for discussion and reflection with teachers observing the lesson. That is one way to improve the teaching method.
